As most of us already know our bodies require Vitamin D to function properly and a lot of us just don't get enough of it. If you are outside in the sun all the time chances are you are getting plenty of Vitamin D. However, a lot of people are probably Vitamin D deficient and are not even aware of it. The older we are the more Vitamin D are bodies require and for women that's even more true but if your young and get ample amounts of sunshine then you are in the clear. I'm 42 and feel like I get an "average" amount of sunshine, I'm lucky to live in an area where it's even sunny a lot during the fall and winter months however my doctor still recommends that I take at least 5000 IU everyday. So, your best bet is to consult your own doctor to and find out how much they recommend you take.
