45% TCA Deep Chemical Peel by Serum Ceuticals

*45% TCA Deep Chemical Peel by Serum Ceuticals

I am both really excited and a little apprehensive to share this magical little gem of a peel with you!  I'm excited because I love what it does for my skin but a little apprehensive because I think it should come with a long instruction booklet so no one burns their face off!  Ok, I might be being a little overly dramatic but I consider myself almost an expert when it comes to peel but this is by far the strongest one I have ever tried but it's also the best one yet!
What is it you ask?  It's basically a chemical peel but a very strong chemical peel.  What does it does do?  It can rejuvenate your skin, it will fade hyperpigmentation, smooth skin texture and even reduce fine lines and as an end result you will have new glowing skin.  Yep, that's why I love it so much.  How do you use it?  Well, I thought I should include the instructions directly from Serum Ceuticals so here it is...word for word...

"You MUST first do a patch test before using this product.
Preparations:
Using a digital kitchen scale for accurate measuring, place 1 gram (0.035 oz) of the serum into a small dish or plate. Mix 3 grams (0.1 oz) of water with the serum. Stir or shake the mixture lightly so it can homogenize. This is a TCA 11% serum for one time use. If you want the concentration to be 22%, take out 2 grams of serum and water. Start from lower concentrations (even as low as 3% -- but the lower concentrate, the longer wearing time to see the effects) and increase it to see what concentration level is best for your skin. You may mix it for several times uses.
Application:
Wash your face thoroughly. Wear gloves and apply the diluted serum gently and evenly on your face using a round cotton swab. Begin from the skin area furthest from the eyes for safety purposes. After desired time, wash off and dry your face with a towel. When you first begin using this product, wear it for 3-4 minutes, once or twice a week, and see how your skin reacts to it. If you do not notice any negative reactions, you can increase the application time up to 10 minutes as you see fit. At this duration, apply once or twice a month. If you become satisfied with how your skin condition has improved, stop using this product. Also stop using this product immediately if you feel that your skin is too thin, sensitive, or you feel any pain or discomfort. Watch how your skin reacts and change your application duration and frequency accordingly.
Sunburn Alert:
All chemical peel product contain a certain Acid that may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun and the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product. We strongly recommend to use SPF 30 at least for one week after you stop using any chemical peel products.
Caution:
If you have any side effects including burning or tingling sensation, heightened skin sensitivity, redness and peeling noted upon initial contact, consider these as normal (side) effects even on the normal skin when you use chemical peel products. These are very normal and will be disappeared soon. If any of these effects are excessive or discomfort you, use 1% hydrocortisone cream and/or stop using chemical peel serum or cream. You may buy 1% hydrocortisone ointment or cream for a few dollars at any drug store. You will be recovered soon. Otherwise, consult with a medical doctor."

So, that all sounds a little intense but don't let it scare you off because this stuff really is worth trying out!  (I do recommend doing a test patch, especially if you are new to acid peels.)
Here is what I do and I have had excellent results...
For starters, make sure you have a clean, wet washcloth ready and you can also prepare a neutralizing solution by combining 2 tablespoons of baking soda with 1 1/2 cups of water in a small bowl.  The neutralizing solution will stop the acid in it's tracks.  However, I prefer to just wash it off with a washcloth and water followed by a nice hydrating face mist.
To begin I just use a cotton pad and apply the 45% TCA Deep Chemical Peel by Serum Ceuticals directly to my freshly washed skin.  I recommend putting it directly on any specific spots that you really want to see gone and then applying a thin layer everywhere else so that the product is on those specific spots the longest.  You could also just use it on specific spots and not do your entire face, neck or decollete.
Once the product is applied you will definitely feel a burning, tingly sensation but don't be a baby (just kidding) just push through it for as long as you can but obviously if it's too much to tolerate wash it off immediately.  You may only be able to have it on a few seconds and that's fine for the first few times you use the TCA peel.  You will slowly be able to build up a tolerance and be able to leave it on longer.
Once you have had the TCA on your face as long as possible you can begin to wash off with cool water or use your neutralizing solution.  You should be able to tell you have removed the TCA because it will stop burning but just to make sure there is no TCA residue spend a minute rinsing off your skin.  When you feel like you have removed all the TCA you will want hydrate your skin as much as possible.  I recommend using a hydrating face mist and while your skin is still damp apply a nice hydrating and repairing serum and/or cream.  I like to use Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate and then follow with the Ceramide Moisturizing Cream by Serum Ceuticals.  This will ensure that your skin is getting the hydration and nourishment it needs to heal and repair your fresh new skin!  Continue to keep your skin really hydrated during the entire peeling process as much as possible.
You will soon start to experience some peeling, you could even have some immediately following the treatment but it usually happens over about a 5 day period so be prepared for that part (at least that has been my experience).  The peeling is very similar to when you get a sunburn.  However, after the old, dead skin has peeled off you will be left with fresh, new, clear and smooth skin!  I think the end result is totally worth a few seconds of burning and a few days of peeling!

Are you going to give this peel a try?  I would love to hear if you are and let me know what your end results are too!  Good luck and make sure you do a test patch first!  You can find this 45% TCA Deep Chemical Peel by Serum Ceuticals on Amazon.com...

Firming Flax Serum by Living Nature

As a beauty blogger and self proclaimed skincare addict I of course use a serum in one form or another in both my morning and evening skincare routines.
This Firming Flax Serum is another great product by Living Nature and is the type of serum that I like to use in the morning.
I like to apply this serum on my neck and decollete to freshly cleansed and slightly damp skin.  I usually wash my face, neck and decollete and then use my choice of toner for the day, apply a face mist on top of my toner, then apply this serum and then my moisturizer.  It sounds like a lot but that's how I roll.  This serum really helps to soften and firm the skin while smoothing out those fine lines and wrinkles and it even helps prep skin for makeup application!
Like a lot of their other all natural and organic products this one also harnesses the power of Harakeke Flax Gel and Manuka Honey which are nature's defense against aging!

Make sure you check out all the other all natural and organic products by the New Zealand based Living Nature by checking out their website and you can also find them on Amazon.com...

Firming Eye Cream by Living Nature

Sometimes finding a good, all natural Eye Cream that does everything you want it to do can be a bit difficult.  For me, the two most important requirements are that I want my eye cream to hydrate and smooth out my fine lines.  This Firming Eye Cream by Living Nature does exactly that!
This Firming Eye Cream by Living Nature uses the nourishing benefits of Manuka Honey and the soothing and plumping qualities of Harakeke Flax Gel to really help make this a potent Eye Cream!
I tend to use different Eye Creams in the morning than I do at night and this Firming Eye Cream is the perfect morning Eye Cream for me.  It's nourishes and moisturizes my under eye area but it's lightweight enough so it's quickly absorbed making it the perfect Eye Cream to wear under make up.  It also helps smooth out those annoying fine lines and that makes this all natural and organic Eye Cream a definite winner!  Being fragrance free also makes this Eye Cream a great choice for those with sensitive skin!

I have been testing out quite a few of the products from the Living Nature skincare line and I am really impressed with everything so far.  They are out of New Zealand and definitely a brand worth checking out!  You can take a look at their entire product line on their website and you can also purchase this Firming Eye Cream and other Living Nature products on Amazon.com...

SPF 30+ Sunscreen by Majestic Pure

When I am picking out a sunscreen that I plan to use on my face I tend to be really picky.  It has to been at least 30+ or more, lightweight feeling on my skin, water resistant and above all it CANNOT clog my pores!
This SPF 30+ Sunscreen by Majestic Pure meets all of my requirements and then some!  I love that this is also made with 100% all natural and organic ingredients like, Organic Honey and Organic Sunflower Oil.  Another important factor is how well it wears under makeup.  And thankfully, this wears well under make up too!  As with all sunscreens just make sure you don't apply too much.  A little goes a long way with this sunscreen and if you apply too much it won't sink into the skin and your makeup will end up looking cakey and that's just not a good look for anyone.
Of course this sunscreen isn't just for the face, you can use it anywhere on the body.  But, for me this SPF 30+ Sunscreen by Majestic Pure is my "Must Have" sunscreen for my face, neck and decollete and what I will be wearing all summer long!

Retinol 2.5% Cream by Uptown Cosmeceuticals

Vitamin A or Retinol as it's most commonly known is a great anti-aging skincare product to have in your arsenal.  What does it do?  It basically tells skin cells to act like younger and healthier skin cells, which is why it works so well.  It almost literally helps "turn back time" on aging and damaged skin.
For heavily damaged skin you can have your doctor prescribe a topical cream like Retin A that is a Retinoid with a much higher dose than it's over the counter cousins.  However, you don't need a prescribed Retinoid to get really great results.
This Retinol 2.5% Cream by Uptown Cosmeceuticals is a great example of a skincare product that can give you results almost as good as those prescription brands.  It just might take a little longer, which is some cases might be better.  Retinol at a prescribed dose can actually leave skin red and irritated.  Using Retinol at a dose of 2.5% means it will gently help fade discolorations from sun damage, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and it can even reduce the size of pores that have enlarged due to clogging or sun damage.  Plus, it can even help increase collagen production!
If you find that you have sensitive skin do a test patch to make sure that you are not overly sensitive to the Retinol.  Once you know you are good to go start adding the Retinol 2.5% Cream by Uptown Cosmeceuticals to your nightly skincare routine.  I recommend using on your face, neck and decollete.  Just make sure to wear sunscreen during the day while using ANY Retinol product.  You don't want to undo all the hard work that the Retinol!
This worked really well on some Melasma spots that I have and of course I always use Retinol to help keep my fine lines and wrinkles at bay!

Rain Chain by Toil in the Soil

I have always wanted one of these Rain Chains!  While it doesn't rain a ton where I live we do get pretty good storms when it does so I am patiently waiting for one of those storms too really see it in all it's glory!  In the meantime, I had to test it out with the hose so I could get the full effect of the waterfall sounds as the little pails fill up.  I don't know why but I have always liked the idea of Rain Chains versus a usual gutter downspout.  So much prettier visually and I love the sound that the Rain Chain makes.
This Rain Chain by Toil in the Soil is a really cute design that adds a little something special to our back yard.  We have some wind chimes that are made out of a similar copper material and also feature butterflies as well so they almost look like they are a matching set.  They look really nice hanging next to each other.  However, I'm thinking I need to get one more of these Rain Chains by Toil in the Soil so I can hang another one on the opposite side of the house too!
