*45% TCA Deep Chemical Peel by Serum Ceuticals
I am both really excited and a little apprehensive to share this magical little gem of a peel with you! I'm excited because I love what it does for my skin but a little apprehensive because I think it should come with a long instruction booklet so no one burns their face off! Ok, I might be being a little overly dramatic but I consider myself almost an expert when it comes to peel but this is by far the strongest one I have ever tried but it's also the best one yet!
What is it you ask? It's basically a chemical peel but a very strong chemical peel. What does it does do? It can rejuvenate your skin, it will fade hyperpigmentation, smooth skin texture and even reduce fine lines and as an end result you will have new glowing skin. Yep, that's why I love it so much. How do you use it? Well, I thought I should include the instructions directly from Serum Ceuticals so here it is...word for word...
"You MUST first do a patch test before using this product.
Preparations:
Using a digital kitchen scale for accurate measuring, place 1 gram (0.035 oz) of the serum into a small dish or plate. Mix 3 grams (0.1 oz) of water with the serum. Stir or shake the mixture lightly so it can homogenize. This is a TCA 11% serum for one time use. If you want the concentration to be 22%, take out 2 grams of serum and water. Start from lower concentrations (even as low as 3% -- but the lower concentrate, the longer wearing time to see the effects) and increase it to see what concentration level is best for your skin. You may mix it for several times uses.
Application:
Wash your face thoroughly. Wear gloves and apply the diluted serum gently and evenly on your face using a round cotton swab. Begin from the skin area furthest from the eyes for safety purposes. After desired time, wash off and dry your face with a towel. When you first begin using this product, wear it for 3-4 minutes, once or twice a week, and see how your skin reacts to it. If you do not notice any negative reactions, you can increase the application time up to 10 minutes as you see fit. At this duration, apply once or twice a month. If you become satisfied with how your skin condition has improved, stop using this product. Also stop using this product immediately if you feel that your skin is too thin, sensitive, or you feel any pain or discomfort. Watch how your skin reacts and change your application duration and frequency accordingly.
Sunburn Alert:
All chemical peel product contain a certain Acid that may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun and the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product. We strongly recommend to use SPF 30 at least for one week after you stop using any chemical peel products.
Caution:
If you have any side effects including burning or tingling sensation, heightened skin sensitivity, redness and peeling noted upon initial contact, consider these as normal (side) effects even on the normal skin when you use chemical peel products. These are very normal and will be disappeared soon. If any of these effects are excessive or discomfort you, use 1% hydrocortisone cream and/or stop using chemical peel serum or cream. You may buy 1% hydrocortisone ointment or cream for a few dollars at any drug store. You will be recovered soon. Otherwise, consult with a medical doctor."
So, that all sounds a little intense but don't let it scare you off because this stuff really is worth trying out! (I do recommend doing a test patch, especially if you are new to acid peels.)
Here is what I do and I have had excellent results...
For starters, make sure you have a clean, wet washcloth ready and you can also prepare a neutralizing solution by combining 2 tablespoons of baking soda with 1 1/2 cups of water in a small bowl. The neutralizing solution will stop the acid in it's tracks. However, I prefer to just wash it off with a washcloth and water followed by a nice hydrating face mist.
To begin I just use a cotton pad and apply the 45% TCA Deep Chemical Peel by Serum Ceuticals directly to my freshly washed skin. I recommend putting it directly on any specific spots that you really want to see gone and then applying a thin layer everywhere else so that the product is on those specific spots the longest. You could also just use it on specific spots and not do your entire face, neck or decollete.
Once the product is applied you will definitely feel a burning, tingly sensation but don't be a baby (just kidding) just push through it for as long as you can but obviously if it's too much to tolerate wash it off immediately. You may only be able to have it on a few seconds and that's fine for the first few times you use the TCA peel. You will slowly be able to build up a tolerance and be able to leave it on longer.
Once you have had the TCA on your face as long as possible you can begin to wash off with cool water or use your neutralizing solution. You should be able to tell you have removed the TCA because it will stop burning but just to make sure there is no TCA residue spend a minute rinsing off your skin. When you feel like you have removed all the TCA you will want hydrate your skin as much as possible. I recommend using a hydrating face mist and while your skin is still damp apply a nice hydrating and repairing serum and/or cream. I like to use
Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate and then follow with the
Ceramide Moisturizing Cream by Serum Ceuticals. This will ensure that your skin is getting the hydration and nourishment it needs to heal and repair your fresh new skin! Continue to keep your skin really hydrated during the entire peeling process as much as possible.
You will soon start to experience some peeling, you could even have some immediately following the treatment but it usually happens over about a 5 day period so be prepared for that part (at least that has been my experience). The peeling is very similar to when you get a sunburn. However, after the old, dead skin has peeled off you will be left with fresh, new, clear and smooth skin! I think the end result is totally worth a few seconds of burning and a few days of peeling!
Are you going to give this peel a try? I would love to hear if you are and let me know what your end results are too! Good luck and make sure you do a test patch first! You can find this 45% TCA Deep Chemical Peel by Serum Ceuticals on
